Tucked away on the isolated Orkney islands is the Isle of Auskerry, home to natural wool, sheepskin’s and their beautiful North Ronaldsay yarn they are known for.
The Isle of Auskerry’s flock of Orkney’s native sheep are now one of only two flocks left of this endangered breed. The sheep spend their days wandering along the pebble beaches eating their favourite food – seaweed! – and their fleeces are clipped only when a new layer of wool is available to keep them nice and toasty against the Scottish weather.
